Mama Ida Odinga Endorses Rosemary Okuta for ODM Nairobi Chairlady
NAIROBI, Kenya – Mama Ida Odinga on Sunday met Rosemary Okuta and a section of Nairobi ODM women leaders, who voiced their frustrations over what they termed as failed leadership under the current county chairlady, Catherine Okoth.
During the meeting, the women presented their grievances to Ida, citing lack of inclusivity, poor organization, and failure to protect the interests of grassroots members as key issues affecting their participation in the party.
The group expressed confidence in Rosemary Okuta’s ability to restore accountability and fairness within the county leadership, noting that she has demonstrated commitment to transparency and the empowerment of women in ODM.
“Our voices have been ignored for too long. We need a leader who will listen to us, defend our rights, and bring back the democratic spirit of ODM,” one of the women said during the discussions.
Ida Odinga acknowledged the concerns raised, assuring the women that their grievances would be considered as the party prepares for grassroots elections.
The development adds weight to calls for change in Nairobi ODM leadership, with Rosemary Okuta increasingly emerging as a preferred candidate to take over from Catherine Okoth.
