ODM Nairobi Women Demand Change Over Failed Leadership

The Nairobi branch of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Women’s League is pushing for urgent reforms in its leadership, citing frustrations over poor governance, unfulfilled promises, and lack of accountability.

In recent weeks, women leaders across Nairobi have raised concerns about the outgoing chairlady, Hon. Catherine Okoth, accusing her of sidelining members and mismanaging resources. They point to unanswered questions surrounding land said to have been set aside for Nairobi women, financial support meant for chairladies, and funds allegedly allocated for a women’s league bus.

Grassroots members argue that the leadership crisis has weakened the women’s wing in the capital, especially at a time when the party is preparing to mark its 20th anniversary. They say the league risks losing credibility if internal reforms are not implemented quickly.

“We cannot celebrate 20 years of ODM when the Nairobi women’s league is in disarray,” one leader remarked. “We need leadership that is transparent, inclusive, and committed to delivering results.”

Many within the league are rallying behind Rosemary Okuta, who is emerging as a preferred candidate for the chairlady position. Supporters describe her as a unifying figure capable of restoring order, fairness, and accountability within the women’s wing.

The calls for change have intensified into demands for immediate grassroots elections to replace the current leadership before the anniversary celebrations. ODM Nairobi women insist that without reforms, their voices will remain stifled and their role in shaping the party’s future diminished.

Do you want me to make this more neutral and report-like, or should I shape it to sound more like a rallying/activist statement from the women themselves?
