Nairobi ODM Women Issue Tough Demands to Chairlady Catherine Okoth

Wrangles within the Nairobi branch of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Women’s League have escalated, with members issuing three tough demands to their Chairlady, Hon. Catherine Okoth.

In a bold statement, ODM women leaders accused Okoth of clinging to power and mismanaging resources, warning that the coming grassroots elections would not be business as usual. They demanded that she must accept a free and fair election, be ready to concede defeat and rally behind incoming chairlady Rosemary Okuta, and refund what they termed as “all money stolen from the league.”

The women insisted that ODM cannot afford a repeat of past controversies that have undermined unity in Nairobi, accusing Okoth of sidelining members while failing to account for funds meant for women’s empowerment.

“Leadership is about service, not personal gain. We are demanding accountability and a smooth transition to new leadership under Rosemary Okuta,” said one of the vocal members during the heated meeting.

The demands signal mounting pressure on Okoth, who has led the Nairobi women’s wing for years but now faces a growing rebellion. With grassroots elections approaching, her critics say the party must embrace change to restore confidence among women members and strengthen ODM’s base in the capital.

It remains unclear whether Okoth will bow to the mounting calls or fight to retain her position, setting the stage for a bruising contest in Nairobi’s ODM women’s league.
