Catherine Okoth Under Siege as ODM Nairobi Women Demand Answers

The Nairobi branch of the ODM Women’s League has raised sharp concerns over the leadership of outgoing chairlady Hon. Catherine Okoth, accusing her of sidelining members and failing to deliver on key promises.

In a strongly worded statement, women leaders questioned the whereabouts of resources meant to benefit the league, including land for Nairobi County women, financial support for chairladies, and funds allegedly allocated for a women’s league bus. They further challenged Okoth to explain how job opportunities entrusted to her for distribution among women leaders were managed.

“The outgoing chairlady cannot be everything in the Women’s League. Where is the money for the ODM women of Nairobi? Where is her deputy? Who is even the tea girl in her office?” the statement read in part.

The group urged Nairobi women to rally behind Hon. Rose Okuta, whom they described as the change the league urgently needs.

According to the women, Okuta’s leadership would bring inclusivity, transparency, and fairness, ensuring that resources and opportunities are shared equitably among members.

The statement comes amid growing pressure within ODM Nairobi for fresh grassroots elections, with women leaders insisting that new leadership is critical to revitalize the women’s wing ahead of the party’s upcoming anniversary celebrations.
