BelaRisu Medical Centre Marks One Year Anniversary

BelaRisu Medical Centre has today celebrated its first anniversary since it was launched with over one thousand successful cleft lip and Palate surgeries.


Located at Park Road in Ngara, Nairobi county the non-governmental organization aims to give hope to children born with cleft.


Speaking during the celebration at the hospital Dr Martin Kamau CEO of Belarisu Medical Hospital said over three hundred patients have benefited from cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, orthodontics, speech therapy, psychotherapy and nutritional support for the last year.

Dr. Kamau noted that challenges facing children born with cleft lip include feeding problems, stigmatization and, poor development of hearing and speech problems.

Since its inception, over 1000 cleft surgery has been done successfully, including highly specialized cleft lip and cleft palate.

parents who have benefited from the foundation could not hold their joy as they had proof of their smiling children during the celebrations.

UDA Nominated Senator Veronica Maina who was the Chief guest during the celebration, said Belarisu's efforts are a realistic current innovation that will bring solutions to all needy communities in Kenya.

Senator Maina said Belarisu Medical has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to health care in Kenya, that goes beyond the convention and is ready to support the BelaRisu projects through the Senate if called for.

BelaRisu Medical plans to extend its free services across the country and stands as an epicentre for training and research for cleft anomalies.

The hospital foundation has conducted more than seven thousand cleft surgeries for free at international standards, it also offers training and research on cleft anomalies.
