In a significant gathering at the ongoing Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Annual Conference in Kwale, top senior counsels met with Hon. Stephen Kalonzo today to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing legal efficiency. The meeting, which took place as a side event of the conference, focused on AI as a tool to support not replace legal professionals in their duties.
Hon. Kalonzo emphasized the importance of integrating AI mechanisms within the judiciary to address the longstanding backlog of cases in Kenyan courts. He urged the courts to expedite the adoption of AI technologies, which he believes could significantly reduce delays in justice delivery, ensuring that Kenyans receive timely resolutions to their legal matters.

The LSK Annual Conference, which commenced earlier this week, is a critical platform for discussing pressing issues in the judiciary. The five-day event will gather top legal academics, senior counsels, and government officials from across East Africa to collaborate on strategies to improve the legal sector.

The discussions around AI and its potential impact on the judiciary are expected to be a major highlight of the conference as the legal community looks for innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and uphold justice.
