Real Estate Mogul Mwenda Thuranira Launches Chandarana Foodplus in the First Strip Mall in Kenya

Real estate tycoon and MYSPACE properties Chief Executive Officer Mwenda Thuranira has launched the first business in the first of its kind mall in Kenya.

Mytown Mall Karen is set to be a game-changer in the real estate field by providing unforgettable experiences to customers.

The mall which is not yet completed has officially opened its doors to one of the leading retail stores in Kenya Chandarana Foodplus.

Speaking to the media during the official launch, Mwenda said MYSPACE properties had already signed deals with other brands that will take space in the mall.

"Along the way, our idea of Mytown Karen was embraced by a mobilized team of very intentional partners and brands such as; Total Energies, Wana Meat, Optica, Kary's Hair Studio and Nail Bar, Lorenzo Drycleaners, Mega Wines Ltd, Mika Appliances, Life Med Pharmacy, Tibu Health Hospital, just to list a few," said Mwenda.

Mytown concept comes at a time when Kenya is ushering more people into online shopping thus solving a niche for the need of small commercial spaces.

According to Mwenda current economic conditions are tough and brands are investing in smaller spaces while majorly focusing on maintaining a high online or social media presence for massive sales, stability and growth of businesses.

"It is key to state that as the online shopping culture evolves there is a need for retail outlets since they render products such as groceries, ice cream, clothes etc. We foresee room for wealth creation, job creation, higher quality of life and improvement to the physical fabric of the community through this project," he added.

Myspace Properties has promised to set up other projects like this in Kisumu, Mombasa, Athi River, Kisii, Upperhill, Waiyaki Way and many other locations.

Mytown is located inmost the prime area of Karen and will serve people using the busy Langata road, Karen town traders, Karen residents and everyone in the mood for shopping vibes.

PSRA Ordered To Reinstate Licences of Nine Private Security Firms

It is a major setback for the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) after the Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s Ad Hoc Appeals Committee ordered the regulator to immediately reinstate the licences of nine private security firm’s. PSRA had revoked licences of the nine private securities companies for allegedly failing to comply with minimum wage requirements among other breaches. At the same time, the Appeals Committee quashed Legal Notice NO. PSRA/001/2024 issued by the regulator. “The appeals by the nine (9) companies be and hereby allowed,” reads the order, further barring the 9 firms from filing any law suits for damages in respect to the suspension of the licences by PSRA. Similarly, the Appeals Committee also directed all parties to withdraw any case pending in court regarding the matter. It is now emerging that President William Ruto and the Principal Secretary (PS) Ministry of Interior and National Administration National Government, Dr. Raymond Omollo snubbed the private security guards’ Uhuru Parking meeting on Saturday, March 30, due to legal and integrity issues surrounding the controversial event.
