PS Aurelia Rono Launches Manual to Nurture National Values Among Children and Youth

Parliamentary Affairs Principal Secretary Dr. Aurelia Rono has unveiled a new Training Manual for Nurturing National Values in Children and Youth, an initiative designed to strengthen moral foundations and promote integrity among Kenya’s younger generation.

Speaking during the launch in Nairobi, Dr. Rono, who presided over the event on behalf of her counterpart, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Salan, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for National Government Coordination, emphasized the need to invest in values at the family and community levels.

“This initiative marks a bold and timely step in strengthening the role of families and communities in shaping a value-driven generation,” Dr. Rono said. “By investing in values at the family level, we secure not just the character of our young people — but the future of our nation.”

Developed by the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values, the manual serves as a structured guide for parents and guardians to impart key principles such as integrity, patriotism, social justice, and national unity, as outlined in Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010).

The launch, themed “Instilling Values, Shaping the Future,” began with a colourful route march symbolizing unity and patriotism, underscoring the collective responsibility of citizens in nurturing a morally grounded society.

Dr. Rono commended the State Department for National Government Coordination and all stakeholders for their collaboration in what she termed a “transformative initiative.” She noted that by cultivating core values among children and youth, Kenya would lay a strong foundation for a cohesive, ethical, and progressive nation.
