KCS Sacco Holds Successful AGM, Launches New Brand and Scholarship Program

Nairobi, Kenya – KCS Sacco held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with remarkable success, addressing key financial achievements, launching a new brand identity, and unveiling an education scholarship program.
Speaking after the meeting, Chief Executive Officer Gitonga Kigo expressed satisfaction with the discussions and outcomes, emphasizing that the organization is on a strong growth trajectory.
"We are happy because everything went as planned. We were able to discuss all the issues, and our members were very pleased with the report we presented. Last year was a good year for us, as we posted strong returns, declared dividends of 15 percent, and an interest rate of 8 percent," Kigo said.
New Brand: KCS Sacco
One of the key announcements at the AGM was the launch of KCS Sacco, a trademark name that reflects the institution’s expansion beyond its origins. Previously known as Karura Community Sacco, the organization has grown into a global entity with members across Kenya and abroad.
"We have not changed our name but introduced a relatable brand that welcomes members from diverse backgrounds while maintaining our identity," Kigo explained.
Empowering the Next Generation
KCS Sacco also launched a formal scholarship program, reinforcing its commitment to education. The initiative will support students through direct funding and encourage contributions from members and corporate partners.
"For years, we have supported education through affordable school fee loans, but today, we take it a step further by launching a scholarship fund. This initiative allows members and well-wishers to contribute, ensuring more students access quality education," Kigo said.
The Sacco also acknowledged the rising influence of Gen Z and announced a deliberate strategy to engage and empower them financially.
"We recognize that Gen Z prefers digital solutions. We have embraced technology to ensure our services are accessible via USSD, web platforms, and social media, including TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook," he noted.
Expanding Opportunities and Value for Members
Beyond financial services, KCS Sacco has positioned itself as a value-driven institution, providing career opportunities, business advisory, and investment management.
"We are not just a savings and credit cooperative. We facilitate international job placements, including a new program to send 80 teachers to the U.S. this year," Kigo revealed.
The Sacco operates on four pillars: credit, savings, investment advisory, and project management, ensuring members benefit beyond traditional financial services.
With a track record of rapid growth, KCS Sacco remains committed to innovation and expansion, promising even greater opportunities for its members in the coming years.
