Jalang'o, 4 Others Expelled From ODM Party



First-time Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe alias Jalang'o is among the five members who have today been expelled from the Orange Democratic Party ( ODM) for supporting activities of the rival political party.

The Others Include Elisha Ochieng Odhiambo (Gem), Hon. Caroll Omondi (Suba South), Hon. Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Hon. Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County).

Speaking to the media after holding the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today, the party noted that the Members were facing allegations of violation of Article 11 (1) (e) of the party constitution and Section 14A of the Political Parties Act 2011.

"The five members will be deemed to have resigned from the party. The party is hereby directed to commence the process of removing them from the register of the party," said John Mbadi.

The NEC also recommended the revocation of the nomination of four Members of the County Assembly of Kisumu for gross misconduct. The four members are; Hon. Caroline Opar, Kennedy Ajwang", Peter Obaso, and Regina Kizito.
Hon. Esther Passaris, the Woman representative for Nairobi County has also been reprimanded for her outright defiance of the party position on the punitive Finance Bill 2023 and that she should issue a written apology to the party within seven days. On top of this, Hon. Passaris will be fined a sum of Ksh, 250,000 to be paid within sixty days.

The Hon. Mark Ogolla Nyamita (Uriri) and Hon. Paul Abuor (Rongo) who are facing similar accusations as the Nairobi Women rep appeared before the Disciplinary Committee in person and offered explanations which were considered by the committee.

The two will be expected to offer a written apology to the party within seven days and pay a fine of Ksh. 1 million each within sixty days. 2. The NEC adopted the report of the National Elections Board (NEB) as proposed by the Central Committee.
