LSK Demands Justice and Accountability Amid Surge in Extrajudicial Killings

By Grace Mwende

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is calling for urgent action in the wake of a troubling rise in extrajudicial killings, spotlighted by the recent death of Willis Ayieko, the Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo.

LSK President Faith Odhiambo, addressing the media outside Milimani Law Courts, urged authorities to conduct swift and thorough investigations to bring those responsible to justice and curb the alarming trend.

Odhiambo described Ayieko's death as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of extrajudicial violence in Kenya, stating that such incidents erode public trust in law enforcement and the justice system. She emphasized the need for accountability and justice, urging the legal community to continue advocating for human rights and the rule of law.

The LSK president also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and support efforts toward transparency and accountability within security agencies. She reaffirmed LSK's dedication to pushing for policy reforms aimed at ending abuses of power and protecting the rights of all Kenyans.

Odhiambo’s statements underline the LSK's firm opposition to extrajudicial killings and its commitment to justice for victims like Ayieko, ensuring that families receive the justice they deserve.
