VillageReach Expands Continental Footprint with Opening of Africa Regional Hub in Nairobi

VillageReach opened its Africa Regional Hub in Nairobi, Kenya, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to enabling closer support for its countries of operation and establishing stronger links with regional partners. This move also opens strategic opportunities to partner more closely with the Kenyan Ministry of Health, further integrating VillageReach into Kenya’s vibrant global health community.

 

The establishment of the hub is in line with VillageReach’s mission to transform health care delivery to everyone and its 2030 strategy, whose aim is to reduce inequities in access to quality primary health care for 350 million people over the next six years.

Having a strategic center on the continent to support their work ensures that VillageReach is prepared to deliver on our new 2030 Strategy,” said Emily Bancroft, CEO and President of VillageReach. “The hub will increase collaboration and streamlined operational support to our country teams and our partners across the 15 countries we support.”

 

As part of VillageReach’s new 2030 Strategy, the Africa Regional Hub office in Nairobi will facilitate collaboration with governments, the private sector and partners internationally and within Kenya to rapidly replicate and scale innovative, responsive primary health care solutions that can efficiently navigate the complexities of health care delivery and make substantial impact on a continental scale.

 


VillageReach is already working closely with the Kenyan Ministry of Health to expand the country’s Health Hotline capabilities and reach. The partnership extends to tackling polio outbreaks, where they work jointly to improve the sample transportation processes, ensuring swift and high-quality sample delivery from community health centers to national and international laboratories. To do this, the organization is strengthening the capacity of health workers and providing crucial support through digital tools that unlock vast health care information and keep health workers at the forefront of best practices ultimately improving the quality of care they deliver.

 

VillageReach is also partnering with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Migori County and Lwala Community Alliance to ensure community health workers have seamless access to essential health products, in addition to working with the private sector and non-governmental organizations to support the MoH through data-driven decision-making for formulation of effective health care policies. This approach seeks to deepen engagement with the private sector for greater impact and aligns with the organization’s goal of fostering sustainable health care solutions in Kenya and beyond.

PSRA Ordered To Reinstate Licences of Nine Private Security Firms

It is a major setback for the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) after the Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s Ad Hoc Appeals Committee ordered the regulator to immediately reinstate the licences of nine private security firm’s. PSRA had revoked licences of the nine private securities companies for allegedly failing to comply with minimum wage requirements among other breaches. At the same time, the Appeals Committee quashed Legal Notice NO. PSRA/001/2024 issued by the regulator. “The appeals by the nine (9) companies be and hereby allowed,” reads the order, further barring the 9 firms from filing any law suits for damages in respect to the suspension of the licences by PSRA. Similarly, the Appeals Committee also directed all parties to withdraw any case pending in court regarding the matter. Why Ruto, PS Raymond Omollo Snubbed Private Guards Uhuru Park Meeting

It is now emerging that President William Ruto and the Principal Secretary (PS) Ministry of Interior and National Administration National Government, Dr. Raymond Omollo snubbed the private security guards’ Uhuru Parking meeting on Saturday, March 30, due to legal and integrity issues surrounding the controversial event. Despite the organisers touting that the President and PS Omollo would grace the occasion the duo snubbed the private security guards’ Uhuru Park meeting, which had been convened ostensibly for mass registration and issuance of guard force numbers to private guards.
