Court Stops Senate From Suspending Senator Orwoba

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba wins big  after court suspended her ban from attending senate sittings The senator was  suspended for six months by the Senate after the house adopted recommendation made by the Powers and Privileges Committee chaired by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi. Orwoba was accused for making unsubstantiated allegations of sexual favours by some parliamentary officials. She was also accused for alleging that there was discrimination in parliament by posting various messages on the Senate Business WhatsApp messenger platform. The Energy and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has launched the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging and Battery Swapping Infrastructure Guidelines, 2023, which are positioned to improve the penetration and uptake of electric mobility in Kenya.  Electric mobility (e-mobility) is one of the focus areas in Kenya’s National Climate Change Action Plan (2018-2022). Kenya’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target is to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions by 32% by 2030. The transport sector directly accounts for about 13% of the total emissions and growing, hence the need to shift to more sustainable, healthier and environmentally friendly modes of transport such as electric vehicles. Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Owour Jalang'o was today among the five members who have been kicked out of the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) for associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party. The first time MP has in the past insisted that he is in ODM to stay and no one can make him leave the party. However, the decision by the committee to expel him from the party seems to have hit hard because the former Radio presenter has turned to the scripture. Through his social media, Jalang'o noted that these were just temptations and he would endure them. "No trial is too heavy to lift! No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. First-time Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe alias Jalang'o is among the five members who have today been expelled from the Orange Democratic Party ( ODM) for supporting activities of the rival political party. The Others Include Elisha Ochieng Odhiambo (Gem), Hon. Caroll Omondi (Suba South), Hon. Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Hon. Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County). Speaking to the media after holding the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today, the party noted that the Members were facing allegations of violation of Article 11 (1) (e) of the party constitution and Section 14A of the Political Parties Act 2011. "The five members will be deemed to have resigned from the party. The party is hereby directed to commence the process of removing them from the register of the party," said John Mbadi. The NEC also recommended the revocation of the nomination of four Members of the County Assembly of Kisumu for gross misconduct. The four members are;
