Kitengela Furaha Children's Academy: A Beacon of Hope for Vulnerable Children

Since its inception in 2021, Kitengela Furaha Children's Academy has been a beacon of hope for orphans, destitutes, and other less fortunate children in the Kitengela community. Established by Saidia Furaha Children's Home, the school has provided a much-needed lifeline, encouraging vulnerable children to embrace education and its transformative power.

Mr. Katsumi Arakawa, a dedicated Japanese volunteer affectionately known as 'Uncle' by the children, highlighted the school's mission: "Saidia Furaha Children's Home, through this school, is committed to ensuring that children from less privileged backgrounds receive the same developmental opportunities as their more fortunate peers."

Mr. Dennis Kodhe, Chairman of Saidia Furaha Children's Home and Director of Kitengela Furaha Children's Academy, emphasized the crucial role of education. "Education is the key to the future. It's the only investment and insurance that children can receive from their families," he stated.

He urged families in Kitengela to enroll their children and appealed to well-wishers for support, citing a dire need for better facilities, including classrooms, a laboratory, a computer lab, and recreational materials.

Currently educating 300 children, the academy offers pre-primary, middle school grades, and junior secondary education.

Despite its challenges, the school remains steadfast in its mission. "Our motto is to create happiness (furaha) among the children and provide them with opportunities to learn and develop, just like other fortunate children in society," said Mr. Kodhe.

Located in the Noonkopir area of Kitengela, the school not only serves the local community but also extends its reach throughout Kajiado County, aiming to uplift the lives of the most vulnerable.

The academy's call for support underscores the urgent need for dormitories, classrooms, a laboratory, a computer lab, administrative funds, and recreational facilities. As the school continues to grow, the contributions from well-wishers will be pivotal in ensuring that these children receive a comprehensive and enriching education, paving the way for a brighter future.
