Lawyer Peter Wanyama Outlines his Vision for LSK Once Elected

Lawyer Peter Wanyama is among the five contestants who are seeking to succeed Eric Theuri as the Law Society of Kenya's(LSK) 51st President.

Wanyama who boosts of 16years of experience in the legal sector says he is the fresh blood that is highly needed in LSK.

Speaking the media wanyama was optimistic that his reign would bring changes to the prestigious institution.

"We have a five-point agenda for the Legal Professional that revolves around protecting the practising space, the question of the rule of law and Constitutionalism, the welfare of our members, strategic leadership and the future of the legal profession on what we are supposed to do to alleviate the challenges facing the legal practitioners, especially the young lawyers," said wanyama

Under his leadership Wanyama has promised to make changes in LSK by introducing new laws which has not been we'll received by his opponents.

"Our opponents have been in leadership positions before and they have failed, it is evident that our campaign is the only one that can change LSK, we want to bring freshness, vibrance and ebullience in LSK," he added.

Wanyama has promised to keep the government in check by increasing litigation to protect the interest of the public in important sectors like electricity, water and climate change.

"When I take over next month we're going to increase public interest litigation at all levels because we understand there is a problem in the government which has been manifested at all levels and our goal is to change the narrative so that Kenyans can enjoy the benefits of the government without the extra burden," he added.

The City lawyer has also vowed to continue pushing for the rule of law and protection of the independence of the judiciary.

Wanyama is the Managing Partner of Manyonge Wanyama & Associates (MWA Advocates).

Others contesting for the top seat are current LSK vice president Faith Odhiambo, former vice president Carolyne Kamende, council member Njoki Mboce and lawyer Bernard Ng’etich.
