Employers Still Strugling to Find the Right Skills to Fill the Gap in the Job Market-Report

The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) in partnership with the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI), and Nexford University, have collaboratively launched a comprehensive report shedding light on the changing demands for skills in Kenya's workforce.

The survey is designed to capture the changing demands for skills, specifically targeted FKE members across diverse sectors, with a robust participation of 521 enterprises.

The research focused on the demand for skills in various career fields and the educational qualifications currently sought by employers in the country. 

The enterprises under study showcased a demand for skills in various career fields – Information Technology (28.4%), Finance & Business Management (27.4%), Engineering (19.2%), Transportation, Distribution & Logistics (18.6%), and Legal (18.2%).

Speaking during the launch head of partnership at Africa Digital Media Institute Mukui Mbindyo noted that the report is not just about data; it's a roadmap to navigate the evolving landscape of skills demand and they are passionate about empowering tomorrow's workforce.

"The Green Shift is real! 39.3% of enterprises are planning to make products/services more climate-friendly. Are you part of the sustainability wave? " said Madam Mbindyo.

‘We need to narrow the skills gap, employers need to enable their employees to learn to impact their growth. Eventually, this goes towards the collective gain of employers and employees’ - Mr. Fadl Al Tarzi, Founder & CEO of Nexford University.

The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) is the most representative employers’ organization in Kenya and the Federation’s members employ 67% of formal private sector wage employees in Kenya 

The role of the Federation is to build the capacity of employers and to influence the business environment through advocacy, effective representation, social dialogue, and provision of value-add services 

In addition, the Federation also represents members at regional and international levels including at East Africa EmployersOrganization, BUSINESSAfrica-Employers Confederation, theInternational Organization of Employers (IOE), and the Labour Organization (ILO), and other global forums
