Nairobi MCAs Warn Gachagua Against Misleading Kenyans with Empty Rhetoric
Nairobi City County Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have launched a scathing attack on impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of hypocrisy, double speak, and fueling division in the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, the MCAs said Gachagua’s recent remarks against President William Ruto’s administration were a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant after failing to deliver while in office.
“Mr. Gachagua has mastered the art of saying one thing in power and the opposite when out of it. During campaigns, he promised unity; in power, he preached division. Now, he parades himself as a champion of truth, yet he ignored the very issues he raises today when he had the chance to address them,” the statement read.
The ward representatives accused Gachagua of promoting exclusive, ethnic-based succession politics instead of supporting President Ruto’s agenda to unite and develop the nation.
“Kenya does not need bitterness or opportunism. It needs sober leadership that prioritizes service delivery, not survival politics,” they added.
Reaffirming their support for President Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the MCAs praised the broad-based government for driving national unity and development despite what they described as “usual teething problems” in its projects.
“The noise from the opposition is designed to derail the President’s agenda. Kenyans need jobs, affordable housing, reliable healthcare, and food security — not endless political drama,” the leaders said.
They urged Gachagua to take responsibility for his own record and stop misleading Kenyans, warning that history would judge him harshly.
“Kenya is greater than individuals. It is greater than short-term politics and certainly greater than Rigathi Gachagua’s bitterness,” the statement concluded.
