Watu and Spiro Announce Partnership to Improve Access to Affordable Financing for Electric Motorcycles

By Grace Mwende Asset financing company Watu Credit (Watu) and Spiro, a pioneer in sustainable urban mobility solutions, have announced a partnership to improve access to affordable financing for electric motorbikes in Kenya. Spiro has set up a headquarters in Mombasa, has the largest electric two-wheeler fleet in Africa with over 10,000 bikes deployed in Kenya, Benin, Togo, Rwanda and Uganda. Speaking during the announcement, Erick Massawe, Kenya Country Manager, Watu said: “Through this partnership, we will leverage our dealership network to make Spiro electric bikes accessible to customers through affordable financing starting in Mombasa. MCSK CEO Ezekiel Mutua Pays Artistes Royalties Worth 20 Million Kenya Shilling

By Grace Mwende The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) CEO Ezekiel Mutua yesterday led royalties distribution worth 20 million to artistes for the first Quarter of 2024 at Safari Park hotel. The event brought together top musicians from all the regions in Kenya as well as representatives of the Departmental Committee of Parliament in charge of Sports, Culture and Heritage, Ministry of Gender, Culture, Heritage and the Arts, the Kenya Copyright Board and international organisations to which MCSK is affiliated. Speaking during the event Mutua said that the society is working closely with the government through the Ministry of Arts and Culture to improve MCSK collections and improve members' welfare through training. According to the CEO going forward royalties will be paid quarterly to ensure that artist are able to sustain themselves "The royalties payments for the 2nd quarter will come in April, the third quarter in August, and so forth," said Mutua.  Amo

Dettol Supports Sirikwa Classic Cross Country With 2.6 Million

The event which is a Gold Tour is expected to draw fireworks with 13 foreign countries expected to Participate. The countries include neighbouring Uganda, Britain, Poland, and Eritrea and top rivals Ethiopia among other countries. Barnaba Korir who is the Meet Director thanked the sponsors for giving the event great mileage with the sponsorship boost. UNFPA and Kenya Red Cross join forces to deliver critical reproductive health supplies in ongoing El-Nino response

Recent climate-driven disasters, including the devastating drought and floods that swept through various regions of Kenya, have had a profound impact on the lives of women and girls. These disasters have exacerbated vulnerabilities in access to maternal healthcare, family planning, and the safety of those most susceptible to gender-based violence. In the aftermath of the El Nino floods that struck the country in late 2023, affecting over 500,000 people, including 58,000 pregnant and lactating mothers, the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, and the Kenya Red Cross jointly flagged off the distribution of life-saving sexual and reproductive health supplies. This vital assistance includes 174,000 assorted reproductive health kits and hygiene kits.
